Description:

SpeakOut™ with Advocatr® is a newly launched application designed to enhance the ability of middle school students to advocate for their own and their peers’ physical and emotional well-being within the school environment. It seeks to foster a positive and trusting atmosphere, encouraging open communication between students and staff.

In addition to empowering students, the app also aims to assist middle school teachers in cultivating non-punitive and restorative environments. This approach encourages students to feel safe when sharing concerns, while also ensuring that staff respond in a constructive manner to those concerns.

This initiative has received support from the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education, through Grant R305A210071 awarded to the University of Oregon. It is important to note that the views expressed in this project are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the positions of the Institute or the U.S. Department of Education.
